Before Steve Hansen started his career in business, he spent 13 successful years at the Commonwealth Bank, then three years in accounting with a major mining company. In 1983 he became a franchisee of the fast food chicken takeaway chain, Chicken World / Big Rooster.

By 1991, he had built up 5 profitable stores in the Chicken World / Big Rooster group and left that group to form his own franchise company called River Rooster which was rebadged with a vibrant modern image in 2003 as CHOOKS fresh & tasty.

Steve, as the Chief Chook, Managing Director and owner of the CHOOKS fresh & tasty Encouragement Centre, recently sold the CHOOKS network after reaching an impressive 42 stores. He is now a partner and management consultant with Think DONE Management Consultancy.

Steve is completely passionate about business and franchising, having received the Paddy Thompson Award for Contribution to Franchising in 2007 and holding a Diploma in Business (Franchising). Steve was the President of the WA Chapter of the Franchise Council of Australia from 2003 – 2008 and was a state committee member from 1996 until 2020.
